Who we are:
CUPE Local 2192 represents unionized employees at Youthlink who provide essential mental health, housing, treatment and community-based services to children, youth, young adults and their families across Scarborough and Toronto.
Our members work in a variety of frontline, administrative, clinical and supportive roles. We are united by a shared commitment to support young people, strengthen our communities, and ensure that every person accessing our services is treated with dignity, compassion and respect.
As a local, we advocate for fair wages, safe and healthy workplaces, job security, equitable working conditions, and a consistent application of our collective agreement. We believe that the working conditions of employees are connected to the quality, stability and continuity of services they provide.
CUPE Local 2192 is committed to solidarity, equity, inclusion and anti-oppression. We recognize the diverse identities, experiences and perspectives of our members and the communities we serve. We work collectively to ensure that members’ voices are heard, rights protected and that workplace decisions are made fairly and transparently. Through collective action, member engagement, and mutual support, CUPE Local 2192 continues to advocate for a respectful workplace and sustainable services for children, youth, young adults and their families.
Together we are stronger!
We are Bargaining!
The work we do is crucial for the young people who access our services, and for the broader community in Scarborough and Toronto. Burnout is already frequent in social services, and workers at Youthlink are no exception. Our members deserve better working conditions, and youth deserve stable, high-quality care. We are overworked, as Youthlink does not pay us what our work is worth. To make ends meet, many of us hold multiple jobs, to the detriment of our health.
Our Bargaining Priorities:
- Improved health and well-being of our members, including culturally specific mental health and health services, and improving sick leave and bereavement provisions
- Protections for a better work-life balance
- Livable wages for our members
Staying connected:
As our bargaining sessions continue with the employer, we will provide updates to the membership through our communications channels as well as during membership meetings. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through the bargaining process.
