Your Bargaining Team met with the Employer on August 6, 2026, for our fifth day of bargaining. Discussions at the table remained cordial, and the parties signed off on several previously agreed-upon items.
Although some of these changes are modest, they improve and clarify the language in our Collective Agreement. This includes adding the word “creed” to ensure the agreement more clearly recognizes and protects members’ religious beliefs.
Most importantly, your Bargaining Team presented the Union’s monetary proposals. These proposals reflect the priorities identified by members and include restructuring and collapsing the wage grid. This proposal is intended to address long-standing concerns with the current grid, including the lack of meaningful wage progression experienced by many members over the past ten years.
Presenting our monetary package marks an important stage in bargaining. The Employer now has the Union’s wage and monetary proposals before them. Your Bargaining Team will continue pressing the Employer to meaningfully address wages, benefits, leaves, and the other financial priorities identified by members.
While progress has been made on some language, we have not forgotten the Employer’s outstanding concessionary proposals or the issues that remain unresolved. We will continue opposing changes that would weaken members’ rights, increase management control, or place additional burdens on workers.
YouthLink employees provide essential services to youth and families while facing a continually rising cost of living. Members deserve wages that recognize their education, experience, responsibilities, and the value of the work they perform every day.
Your Bargaining Team remains united and committed to achieving a fair Collective Agreement. Our strength at the bargaining table comes from the collective strength and solidarity of our membership.
The fight is not only at the table. If you want to become involved in bargaining support or mobilization, please reach out to your Bargaining Team.
In solidarity,
Salvatore and the CUPE Local 2192 Bargaining Team
