Your Bargaining Team met with the Employer on September 24, 2026, for our sixth day of bargaining.
Discussions remained, respectful and the parties reached agreement on several additional items.
While the tone at the table remains respectful, meaningful bargaining requires movement from both parties. The employer still has many non monetary proposals on the table that the union has not agreed to. The Employer’s lack of movement raises concerns about whether it is prepared to work toward resolving the outstanding issues and reaching a fair collective agreement.
The Employer also continues to maintain its proposal concerning Independent Medical Assessments. Under its proposal, the Employer could require a member to attend an assessment paid for by YouthLink if the member has used five sick days, has what the Employer considers a pattern of abnormal absences, or if the Employer questions the member’s fitness for work.
The Employer originally connected this proposal to the Union’s proposal to recognize medical notes from Nurse Practitioners. Your Bargaining Team continues to have serious concerns about the effect the Employer’s proposal could have on members’ privacy, dignity, and use of negotiated sick leave.
Although the Union presented its monetary proposals during our fifth bargaining day on August 6, monetary issues have still not been discussed at the bargaining table. These issues include important member priorities related to wages and the wage grid.
Our next bargaining date is scheduled for October 22, 2026. Your Bargaining Team remains committed to negotiating in good faith, protecting members’ rights, and achieving a fair collective agreement. We will continue to keep the membership informed as bargaining progresses.
Our strength at the table comes from an informed, engaged, and united membership. We appreciate your continued support and solidarity.
In solidarity,
Salvatore and the CUPE Local 2192 Bargaining Team
